Description:
Rare W.W. Greener Sporting Rifle In .577/450 with low 3 digit serial number 2XX. Features include side latch breach, 28” round barrel, rare swivel safety latch, English walnut stocks, machined engraved blued receiver, sling swivels, rear sight is one standing notch marked 200 & 1 folding leaf marked 300 with long bead front sight. Markings are crisp throughout including top of breech at barrel stamped, “AMMUNTION/.577/450”, has 3 line address stamped on right side of receiver, “W.W. GREENER/68 HAY MARKET/LONDON” & Fields patent 3 Line stamp on left side of receiver, “Fields Patent/ No 1927/1877”. Overall in very good condition, receiver has some loss of blue as well as the latch. Barrel retains most original finish with a few nicks scattered throughout. Forend remains in very good condition showing normal handling marks, shoulder stock has 2 repaired cracks one on left side of stock at receiver & another on the bottom side at the end of the trigger guard. Bore is in good condition showing strong rifling with minor pitting in a couple spots. Overall a nice rare sporting rifle by W.W. Greener.
