Thanks for visiting my site. Description: Foe sale is a very nice cased Antique Smith and Wesson Model 1 Second Issue 22 Caliber Revolver identified to George H. Nesbitt who served in the 8th Michigan Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. I did some very brief research who listed him as serving on Wormer's Company, Stanton Guards during the Civil War. Further research is needed for more information on his service history. Regardless, the pistol is is very good condiion for it's age retaining nearly all original factory nickle plating other than on the cylinder which is flaking (see photos). It has his name engraved on the left hand side of the frame and complete with very nice factory pearl grips. The left grip has a very small chip present towards wrist, but otherwise free of any major damage. The bore is clean but shows use and some old signs of pitting is present. The action is nice and tight and the cylider indexes correctly (no wobble). The serial number is 114445 which places the date of manufacture between 1860-1868. The wood case is in excellent condition and free of any crack or splits. It has what appears to be the original ammo and cleaning rod in the box but the original key is not present. This is a very nice little Smith worthy of further research.
