RIFLE IS SOLD PENDING FUNDS
For your consideration is a near mint 5.8 Springfield Armory all correct rifle. Parts show little to no usage and the metal is almost 'as new.' Not bad for a 60 year old rifle!
Only major blemish is an op rod ding on the top of the rear handguard. This rifle comes with the CMP certificate. You will notice the X6 stamping on the bottom of the pistol grip. This is a Greek stamp. I received this rifle from the CMP when they were selling the Greek return correct grades. Many of those corrects were subject to the 'rule of 3' where 3 parts were switched out and the rifles were sold as Service Grade. I swapped the trigger group, elevation screw and windage knob with a guy that had a similar situation HRA and now the rifle is correct again.
Lockup is very tight and requires a mallet. Barrel measurements are muzzle (ME): 0.5 and throat (TE): 1.5. Barrel date is 4/55 and is mirror bright.
The stock still has a rough texture from not having been sanded or worn down with repeated oilings. This Garand is as close to factory new as I have ever owned.
I will ship the rifle in a CMP hard case with the original CMP certificate. Shipping will be $40 insured FedEx Ground.
