Description:
#25760, Holland & Holland, 98 New Bond Street, London: A Holland & Holland Bar Action Royal Ejector 12 Bore Finished May of 1910 for a Mr. R. M. Cook with 28" Chopper Lump barrels at .735" .006 & .018" (Open Imp.Cyl. & Mod.), Original 2 1/2" chambers, 1 1/8 ounce proof, Wall thickness on the right and left at .025", Double triggers with the front trigger articulated, Splinter forend, Straight hand stock at 14 5/8 x 1 1/2 x 2 3/8" over a removable 7/8" leather pad with plugs at the screws, Great cast-off for the right hand, Great game gun weight at 6 lbs. 9 oz., Excellent wood with nice color & contrast, 98% coverage of classic Royal scroll engraving, Joseph Brazier locks, The inletting at the head of the stock & under the locks remains in excellent condition, The barrels are smack on the face and good bite remains, The barrels ring with a pronounced chime, This gun was at H&H after 1972 as it has a 33 Burton address sticker for a J. H. Spelzini, I presume H&H refinished and serviced this piece at that time as it was bought by a U. S. citizen over 27 years ago and brought here, Original buttstock and forend that was refinished in England (I presume H&H) and remains at 96%, 98% barrel blue redone in England, No case colors remain, The checkering is at 99%, The bores are bright and shiny and remain in excellent plus condition. The whole is cased in a period leather trunk that was added later and a fresh lining done at that time but with a period trade label. This is a #1 gun but Holland's records indicate it was ordered as a single gun & not a pair at that time. Here is a very honest H&H Royal with great dimensions and weight that comes to the hand with ease. This piece represents a very solid value and is priced right compared to a whole bunch of Holland Royals on the market.
