Description:
This ultra-rare, Webley and Scott, miniature 1902 Farquarson in 300 Rook is a project that begs to be completed. It started life in England at the beginning of the 20th Century and then went to India, from where we bought it several years ago. Brought back to England, it was struck down and restocked in our shop with a beautiful piece of true French walnut, a widow's peak horn buttplate, silver oval and a traditional sling hook eye. Then it languished in our shop for some time behind other work. Eventually we decided to give it an "as is" blue and bring it to America, for someone else to complete.

If you are a single shot fan, you already know how rare these miniature 1902 Farquarsons are. Wal Winger in British Single Shot Rifles estimates that less a couple of dozen were ever built. Plus this one has Webley's unique, height-adjustable front sight. According to Winger (Vol 8) the best quality ones came with top tang safeties, but this, like most, is without one. Regardless, it's an extremely rare and attractive miniature 1902 Farquarson that few of us have ever seen in the flesh.
As such, it can either be enjoyed as is, or serve as the basis of a custom rifle project to produce an exceptional single shot show piece. These rifles were offered in several calibers. This one is still in its original 300 Rook but it would benefit from re-boring to 32/40, an original offering, to bring the bore back to new condition. As to engraving; anything goes, from a simple border pattern to an elaborate show piece. Page 176 of British Single Shot Rifles (Vol 8) gives a good idea of what this rifle could look like finished. A photo from the book is included with those of the rifle.

Priced at only $3250, it would be impossible to duplicate the action and the stock work for this price and I expect a buyer to soon take advantage of this rare opportunity.
