Description:
A beautiful vintage Westley Richards 318 Accelerated Express bolt action rifle. Built in the golden age of safaris, this rifle has markings of Newtons LTD of Nairobi BE Africa on barrel. Built on a Mauser action this rifle has a 26 inch tapered barrel with band island express sights with one standing and five leaf up to 500 yards. Hinged floor plate with lever release. Bore is bright and plenty of rifling for accurate shooting in the field. Classic Westley Richards front sight with one standing bead and integral flip-up white bead night sight. Westley Richards protective flip hood not present and looks to have been removed many years ago. Standard hook front sling eyelet island mounted to bottom of barrel. Classic nicely figured English walnut stock with time period typical quick taper ebony forend tip and capped pistol grip. 14 3/4" length of pull over metal butt plate with integral trap cover. Gold initial medallion in stock, un-engraved. Overall weight of gun is 7.75 pounds.
Gentlemen, this is a lovely renaissance gun that can be enjoyed as-is or would be a real prize if restored to it's former glory. I am sure there is a lot of history behind this gun, with many more years to come.
