Antique MINIATURE Charleville FLINTLOCK Musket
19th Cent. BELGIAN Proofed CHILD-SIZED Mini Musket
Here we present an antique Belgian Child-Sized Charleville Flintlock Musket, made circa the 19th century in Liege, Belgium. This piece is a scaled down version of the full-sized musket that was one of the most successful models in its day. It saw service against the British colonists during the French and Indian War, the American Revolutionary War, and the Napoleonic Wars.
This would make an excellent teaching tool for a child learning how to shoot a flintlock, a display or costume piece. The barrel is half of the length of the full-sized version, the overall length is 20 inches shorter. It has the three barrel band system in common. The hollowed out cheek piece on the butt stock is a feature that is sometimes found on the Charleville. Caliber is .58 versus the full-sized .69.
Overall condition is fine. The metal parts were left in the white. Marking is clear. The stock is very good with a small graft between the middle and foremost barrel band. The smooth bore is in very good condition and the action is fine.
