Ornately engraved lock and brass mounts. Fancy walnut relief floral carved stock. Horn tipped rosewood rod. Very fine engraving on the lock and signed in fine script “JOSEPH LAMOTTE/L’AINE (the elder)”. 100% original with even the lock parts all original. Barrel with original gilding and blue patina mix. Stock with all the original finish. Perfect working order and excellent bore. Joseph Lamotte of St. Etienne was one of the best French makers of his day. He worked from the 1740’s thru the 1770’s and ceased operating in 1783. Really nice example of type carried by French Officers in Revolution. SOLD Antique: Yes |
