Description:
This is a handsome knife that measures 17 1/4" overall with an 11 7/8" curved, single-edged blade with rounded tip. The blade has 98-99% of the original armory bright polish with only some very minor contact marks at the tip, as well as along the reverse side from scabbard wear. The ricasso is marked “US/24332" on the obverse, “SA/(flaming bomb)/1912" on the reverse. The S-curved crossguard is likewise in excellent shape with only a mild patina having formed over time, along with some traces of verdigris, and the walnut grips are also excellent with few noticeable handling marks or other blemishes. The RIA-made, 1912 dated leather scabbard is in fine-excellent shape with 97-98% of the original blue remaining on the belt swivel and an excellent brown leather body that has a good deal of wax protectant applied giving it a white frosted appearance. This is a splendid example of a great pre-WW1 US military knife, and would make a great addition to any collection.
