Description:
Rare Lock-back Folding Bowie Knife stamped Samual C. Wragg 25 Furnace Hill Sheffield. This example is the very desirable large type with horse-head pommell, ivory scales and wonderful 6" blade deeply etched "SELF PROTECTOR".  Blade locks nice and tight. 7" closed and overall length is just over 12-3/4". Samuel C. Wragg made knives at the 25 Furnace Hill address from 1833 to 1837.

Condition: The price is low on this piece because it may have been re-handled at some point but the knife has never been taken apart and the original pivot pin has never been messed with. The weak 6" blade is missing the tip but with a some good careful licks on a wetstone it can be reshaped easily, I've been tempted to but on a rare knife like this I don't think I'll try --- yet!  Blade locks up nice and tight.
