Description:
Fox Sterlingworth 16 Gauge Side-by-Side
FACTORY HIGH CONDITION, 28", MODERN DIMENSIONS, NICE!

General Specs: Fox, Year 1939, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 5oz, SxS
Serial Number: 375556

Most will agree the Fox Sterlingworth 16ga. is the best value for a small gauge American double in today's marketplace.  Built on a tiny 20ga. frame, therefore lighter than like guns from Parker, L.C. Smith, or Ithaca, dynamically balanced... the Sterlingworth is still an affordable field and clays gun with the handling and shooting characteristics of a much more expensive gun.  The shooting world loves the Fox shotgun.  Just try and find a decent 16ga. in any grade.  There are few offered for sale, and for good reason.  The A.H. Fox 16 bore has been described as the “most perfectly proportioned 16ga.” boxlock ever made and it likely is true.  I have a treasure here; a 1939 Sterlingworth, sn375556, that has over 70% factory case color, 98% factory blue, 98% factory trigger guard blue, 28" #3 weight barrels, mirror bores, nicely figured factory wood with factory butt plate, perfect screws, really a nice gun.  The best thing about the late Sterlingworth is that they have much higher stock dimensions conducive to the modern shooter.  This gun’s stock measures 14 3/8” x 2 ½” x 1 ½” x neutral cast.  You won’t find an early factory Sterlingworth stocked like that!  Weighing 6lbs. 5oz. and perfectly balanced 1/8" ahead of the hinge pin, it is a delightful little bird gun that will appeal to both the collector and the upland hunter.  High condition, original guns are hard to find and will continue to grow in value as fewer and fewer are available to purchase.  THIS IS A "VFI CERTIFIED GUN", meaning we have stripped the receiver to its smallest part, cleaned all the parts in our Ultrasonic cleaner, inspected each for integrity, lubricated and reassembled all.  This is a $275 service that gives you confidence in the mechanics of your vintage Fox and allows VFI to provide a 90 day mechanical warranty on a VFI CERTIFIED gun.  Who else offers that?!!!  Thanks for looking.
