TINY 1800s Antique BELGIAN Pocket or Muff Pistol
Mid-19th Century HIDEOUT Carry Gun
Here we present a small antique Percussion Pistol, made circa the mid-19th century, in Liege, Belgium. This very small type of pistol was very popular from the 18th and into the 19th Centuries, in Europe, as well as the colonies. They were of course made primarily for self-defense, especially in cities or traveling around the countryside.
This specimen is very small, only measuring 5-1/2 inches total. It features an octagonal, canon-shaped barrel. There is a Liege proof on the left side of the breech, an “M” under the barrel, and a “P” on the right frame.
The overall condition is very good. The markings are clear. The smooth bore is good. The stock is solid with an attractive grain. The action is fine and strong, with just a small crack in the hammer.
