Description:
Fox A 16 Gauge Side-by-Side
FIGURED WOOD, 65% COLOR, FACTORY ORIGINAL

General Specs: Fox, Year 1938, 16 Gauge, 6lbs 7oz, SxS
Serial Number: 303719

Finding small bore GRADED Fox guns has become difficult in the last several years as the public has become aware of the superiority of the Fox gun.  Finding a 16ga. A Grade with lots of factory original condition and nicely figured factory wood is even harder. The demand for small bore Fox guns has never been more intense.  The Fox 16ga. built on a 20ga. frame has earned it the reputation as being the finest handling of all American doubles, and this gun is no exception.  With the more modern Alloy Steel 28" barrels it weighs in at 6lbs. 7oz. and balances perfectly between the hands.  This is still lighter than most all the Parker or L.C. Smith or Ithaca 16ga. guns and the gun is ready for the stout loads we use for pheasants and western upland hunting.  Many are unaware that less than 2500 A Grade 16's were produced, and most of the good ones are in safes and will not be offered for sale anytime soon.  Built in 1938, this Fox, serial number 303719, remains in excellent original condition with great shooting dimensions.  The value of Fox shotguns continues to climb and with the 65% original case color, nicely figured wood, perfect screws, factory double ivory beads, mirror bores, desirable 28” Cyl/M factory chokes, factory 2 ¾” chambers, and later manufacture date for the hotter loads of its day, this is a very sound investment vessel in which to plant some of your savings.  And...it is a gas to shoot to boot!
