Colt Cased Police Model 1862
Serial #4167 (1861 production - all numbers match); .36 cal, 5-shot, 4 1/2" barrel and half-fluted cylinder. Barrel address is "ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW YORK U.S. AMERICA." Included is a wooden revolver case, numbered 3145 on the inside lip. Also, a .36 cal conical and round bullet mold, a screwdriver, two tins of percussion caps, and a small brass revolver powder flask, with the embossing of an eagle holding a revolver. The Model 1862 police is considered by many collectors as the ultimate in streamline design by Colt's factory in the percussion period. Due to slow sales and the demand for metallic cartridge arms, several thousand of the late production of this model were converted from percussion to the cartridge use. The result has been to add to the desirability of those in their original cap and ball configuration. Sold as a set.
