Super rare "42" dated P-08.
WWII German records indicate that for a short period in 1940 the Mauser factory was unable to get wood for grips. The Ordinance Office instructed them to obtain a small quantity of brown Bakelite grips from Kreighoff * until fresh wooden grips could be obtained..
This is an absolutely beautiful example of the scarce 1940 "42” with the rare grips.. The gun retains more than 98% of the original blue. The only loss, and that is minimal, is from muzzle and sharp edge silvering plus the usual side plate wear.
The grip straps have not grayed and there are no pits, rust spots or scratches anywhere. The right side of the slide is stamped Eagle/555, Eagle/555, Eagle/Swastika. The barrel and bolt, stamped Eagle/Swastika. All parts match except the magazine which is numbered 1177 m +.
The grips are flawless brown Bakelite Kreighoffs. The bolt, slide rails and feed ramps show minimal use, if any. In fact, none of the interior shows much use, if any at all. The barrel is flawless, mirror bright and with razor sharp rifling.
The gun comes with one correct aluminum riveted bottom magazine.
This was German officer's Cabinet Princess. A real find for the serious collector for whom rarity and condition are paramount.....$3895
