MERKEL 360 EL SIDE x SIDE ... 410 gauge ... 28" solid rib barrel (marked "No. 49 of 100") ... 3" chambers ... choked Mod/Full ... Anson & Deely scalloped box lock action ... Greener cross bolt ... Holland & Holland style ejectors ... LOP 14 1/2" to front trigger ... drop b 1 1/4" ... drop heel 2" ... double triggers.
The receiver is deep relief engraved with 2 pheasants in a field scene on the left and 2 rabbits in a field scene on the right. Scroll patterns surround these scenes and flow over the bottom of the receiver, trigger guard and break lever. A simpler zig-zag pattern covers the upper and lower tang and the forend hardware. The left side of the receiver is signed "GL".
Very highly figured English walnut with a fine oil finish is used for the straight grip stock and splinter forearm. A pebble grain, locking, leather take down luggage case hold the gun and the Merkel box, numbered to the gun, completes the package.
