Description:
One of the most iconic U.S. Military rifles, and certainly the most recognized of all the pre-1900 U.S. Infantry Arms, this 45/70 rifle is in excellent, original condition. It retains 90-95% plus original blue and color case-hardened finish, has a mint bore, and an excellent walnut stock. The government inspector's stamp and the date "1889" are still clear and distinct as stamped on the left side of the stock and the gun is in perfect mechanical condition. This was the arm used throughout the Indian War period and also carried by state militia volunteers in the Spanish American War. It is unusual to find one of these that does not show wear, and is still in near mint condition. This is an investment quality, antique firearm.
