Description:
SOLD...Antique 1873 Winchester SRC 44-40. Here is a well used but working 73 SRC CHEAP!!!! It is in the 44-40 caliber. Comes with Cody Worksheet and it is a SRC.. S/N 165055 and made in 1884.. Standard 20" barrel. This is a well used ole 73 SRC. The barrel address and caliber markings are long gone from wear and use. The other marking are readable. The mechanics function but the last little bit of the bolt closing is stiff as the bottom cartridge guide is hitting the case rim as it puts a very small ding on the edge of it. It still feeds, fires and ejects but shows honest wear. The bore shows rifling but has some pits and is rough but it still shoots !!!! Hit a beer can with it at about 20 yards. Got lucky ?????.. The front sight has had the blade peened in place and is solid.{see photo}.. The dust cover looks old but I am pretty sure it is a older reproduction. The metal is smooth gray color and no pitting to mention but a little on the bottom of the frame below the forearm. Has the number 35 stamped in that area as well ??? Rack number or ??? The wood is rough. The forearm has a full length split on bottom as you can see. It shows lots of wear to the left side also as you can see. The butt stock looks like it is from a 32-20 claiber carbine as it has no trap for the cleaning rods. It is rough with two grain splits coming off the comb {see photos}.. They are still solid and the wood fits tight and not loose any where.. Still has the original saddle ring. Both hammer notches are perfect and positive. The rear SRC sight looks correct but all the markings are worn off from heavy use. All the screws are servicable as I have had the completely apart for cleaning and inspection. Not much to say about this one but it is cheap and probably the cheapest one in the country that still shoots !!!!! It is still pretty much all Winchester but the dust cover.. Shoot it, hang it on the wall or what ever. It is what it is. This one has absolutely "been there and done that".... and a pretty early ole 73. You won't have to worry about putting a scratch on this one... Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos about this thing, let me know.. $40 insured shipping.
