CASED COLT GUSTAV YOUNG FACTORY ENGRAVED MODEL 1849 POCKET REVOLVER CIRCA 1855. .31 cal. five shot with 5” octagon barrel having the engraved “SAML. COLT” address. All matching and original including the wedge and loading lever. Serial number in the 104,xxx range among a group of other Gustav Young engraved Model 1849 revolvers as described and illustrated in R.L. Wilson’s “Book of Colt Engraving, Vol. 1, pp. 88-108. Exceptional quality scroll engraving associated with Young and having his distinctive “COLT’S/PATENT” engraved in a panel on the frame. Engraved wedge and screw heads. Bank strap engraved with the initials “A A H” Wonderful 100% crisp “STAGECOACH HOLDUP” cylinder scene. Factory pre ban ESA exempt antique 162 year old grips original to the gun. Excellent condition with 90% blue on the barrel and traces of blue on the cylinder. Cylinder with fading blue and grey patina. Considerable original silver plate on the straps. Grips beautifully mellowed with age and in perfect condition. Perfect working order and fine bore and chambers. In the original factory case with the original maroon velvet lining. Original brass Colt mold, E. Pluribus Unum “Eagle” flask, packet of skin cartridges and a green label Eley Bros. cap tin. Superb 100% original cased Gustav Young 1849 Pocket. Price on request.
