1st AMERICAN Double Action Revolving Pistol
Here we present an antique Allen & Thurber Bar Hammer Pepperbox percussion pistol. Made from 1830-1865, these pistols enjoyed even greater popularity than Sam Colt’s first pistol. The history that these pistols enjoyed over the years is astounding: the Seminole Wars, Gold Rush, Mexican War and American Civil War. These guns are true relics of American history.
The serial number of this revolver is “20”. This pistol features a 3-1/4 inch barrel marked “Allen Thurber & Co./Worcester”, a bag shaped handle, and a nipple shield, with light engraving on the frame and shield. It will hold 6 shots of .32.
Condition is fine. The steel has over 95% of high polish blue. Markings are clear and legible. Serial numbers match. The grips are in fine condition with nearly complete varnish. The bores are in good condition and the action is in fine condition.
A note to collectors: these pistols were made in at least 50 different variations, making this an excellent area to start collecting.
