Description:
This is a Weyersberg-made bayonet that measures 27 1/2" overall with a machine sharpened 22 3/4" yataghan blade having wide single fullers. The blade has mostly armory bright finish with specks of mild surface freckling throughout. The ricasso is maker marked on the reverse with the Weyersberg “King's Head" trademark, and the iron crossguard has darker freckling throughout. The hilt has an overall bright yellow-ochre patina with scattered small impact marks and darker tarnish within the grooves along the grips. The scabbard has an added black paint finish with flaked and retouched areas along its length. This is a nice example of a German-made contract bayonet, and rates good-very good condition overall.
