JOE CONDON ENGRAVED, GOLD INLAID COLT SINGLE ACTION SECOND GENERATION .357 MAGNUM 7 ½” REVOLVER MADE FOR SAMMY DAVIS JR. WITH IT’S HAND TOOLED ARVO OJALA HOLSTER AND BELT CIRCA 1965. Serial number 41235SA. Engraving and inlay by the late Joe Condon known as the “Engraver To The Stars” famous for his gold inlay on blue background. Engraved guns for Buddy Hackett, Mel Torme and Elvis Presley as well as Sammy Davis, Jr. who had several guns done by him. Manufactured in 1965 as identified by it’s serial number it is floral scroll engraved with gold accents and gold plated trigger, front sight and ejector rod head. Gold inlaid “INDIAN HEAD” on the left recoil shield and a gold inlaid “BUFFALO HEAD” on the loading gate. Right rear of the frame with gold inlaid “COILED RATTLESNAKE”. Back strap inlaid in gold with a “MOUNTAIN LION” and the monogram “S/D/Jr.”. Butt strap engraved in a banner with outer gold panel “ENGR BY/ J. CONDON”. Rear of cylinder inlaid with 12 gold stars. Two piece hard rubber Colt Logo and Eagle grips of a later vintage certainly replacing the original Joe Condon carved or checkered ivory grips which are missing. In fine plus condition with nearly all the finish however with a ½” spot of encrusted rust on the exterior of the cylinder and some very minor salt and peppering on the left side of the barrel. Trigger safety notch damaged and non functioning. Excellent bore and chambers with hardly any sign of use. Original accompanying Arvo Ojala black hand tooled basket weave holster and belt with Ojala maker stamp on back of holster and hand tooled carving “SAMMY DAVIS JR.” on the underside of the belt. Original Winchester/Stembridge 5 in1 Hollywood blank cartridges in loops. Absolutely original and authentic with one other known very similar Joe Condon engraved Colt Single Action made for Sammy Davis Jr. serial number 38216SA.
