Description:
***   SOLD   ***   An extensively and beautifully engraved 16 gauge Belgian-made hammergun. The hammers sit below the shooter's line of sight when cocked. Well balanced and great handling.   ***   Ronge was a maker of quality doubles in Liege, Belgium. The gun is beautifully engraved on the frame, lockplates, hammers, and forearm iron as well as the breech end of the barrels. It has double triggers and weighs 6lb 6oz. The hammers sit below the line of sight when cocked and the action can be opened when the hammers are cocked. The finish on the action and lock plates show little wear. The action is in good mechanical condition.   ***   The straight figured straight grip stock and forearm have recently been refinished and the checkering has been re-cut. Stock dimensions are 14-1/8" over a thin plastic butt plate by 1-7/16" by 2-1/8:. Slightly cast off for the right hand shooter.   ***   The 27-1/2" steel barrels are equipped with extractors and are topped by a raised solid cross-hatched and tapered rib. It is chambered for 2-1/2" shells and was nitro proofed in the mid-1920"s. The left barrel is bored 0.671 and has a constriction of 0.011 for Light Modified choke. The right barrel is bored 0.672 with a constriction of 0.002 for Skeet choke. Both barrels show bluing wear and a fair amount of mild pitting in the bores but have more than adequate wall thickness. The left barrel has a minimum wall thickness of 0.029 and right has 0.021.    ***   Great for game or clays. A nice gun to shoot at Vintage Gunner events. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance and related charges. I give a three-day non-firing inspection and will only accept returns if gun is not as described.   ***   See this great gun and other fine doubles in the MacNab booth at The Vintage Gunners Cup at Hopkins Game Farm in Kennedyville, Maryland September 22 - 24, 2017.
