Action is a Springfield Armory made sometime from 1931 to 1935, long after the heat treating issues. This rifle would be a good shooter or the action could be the basis of a custom rifle.
Barrel is a High Standard dated 5/44. These barrels have a reputation for accuracy and the bore is bright with strong rifling.
