Description:
This is an interesting late 1st Model made in 1879 with the dust cover held in place by grooved guides on either side of the top of the receiver with the checkered thumb print on top. But it also has the exposed trigger pin like a 2nd Model. This may be some kind of a transition gun. 24 inch round barrel with a full length mag tube chambered in 44 WCF caliber. Crescent style rifle butt. There is a "C.W.G." engraved on the bottom of the brass elevator. Blade front and the correct early style rear sights. The barrel and mag tube are a mottled gray color as well as the forend cap and butt plate. Receiver is also gray with original blue in the protected  areas around the side plates. Smooth action. Bore is about Good. Wood has been lightly freshened and is in good condition with a few handling marks. A good collectable Winchester for that niche in your collection!
