Winchester Model 1897
Offering one of my pet Model 97’s for sale. This shotgun bears serial # 344153 putting production somewhere around midyear 1905 plus or minus a few months. The shotgun has been completely refinished and wears some excellent and nicely figured wood. The fore end is believed to be original but I can’t recall for certain. The buttstock is a higher grade of walnut with very nice figure. The barrel is 25 inches and the bore is beautiful, it is fix choked cylinder constriction and handles 2 ¾ inch shells. I have shot this gun in American skeet and dabbled with it our skeet leagues and its absolutely perfect for shooting. No looseness or slop at the joint. The gun has again been refinished so some of the numerals are a little less than sharp but the gun is for shooting and enjoying. The gun shows very little wear from when it was refinished. And think about this if you were a cowboy circa 1898 would not your guns look mostly new. Unless of course you were reckless and didn’t believe in gun cleaning.
