Winchester Model 1897
Offering the last of my pet Model 97’s for sale. This shotgun bears serial # 145068 putting production somewhere around midyear 1901ish plus or minus a few months. The shotgun has been completely refinished and wears some excellent and wood with no scratches or marks. The fore end is believed to be original but I can’t recall for certain. The butt stock has a LOP of 13 ¾” and is wearing a hard rubber black Winchester butt plate. The barrel is 26 inches and the bore is beautiful, it is fix choked cylinder constriction and handles 2 ¾ inch shells. I have shot this gun at American skeet and dabbled with it in our Thursday evening and Sunday afternoon skeet leagues and its absolutely perfect for shooting. No looseness or slop at the joint or take down point. The gun has again been refinished so some of the numerals are a little less than sharp but the gun is for shooting and enjoying. The gun shows very little wear from when it was refinished. And think about this if you were a cowboy circa 1898 would not your guns look mostly new. Unless of course you were reckless and didn’t believe in gun cleaning.
