Description:
This is a Remington Modelo Argentino rolling block rifle chambered in .43 Spanish. It has a 34-¾” round barrel with a decent bore. The rifling is still sharp, but there is some light pitting near the breech. The first 2-¼” from the receiver are octagonal and are engraved “Modelo Argentino 1879 E.N.” on the top flat. The barrel is in good condition, retaining most of the original blueing and no major scratches or pitting. The barrel has a bayonet lug on the right side, a fixed front sight, and a rear sight that is adjustable for elevation. Three barrel bands marked “U” hold the stock to the barrel. The receiver is also in good condition, having a very faded color case and small patch of light pitting on the right side. Otherwise the receiver is undamaged. The hammer and breech block are in similar condition and the screws have very little wear. Remington’s patent information is engraved on the tang. The walnut forend is in fair shape. There is a gouge on the right side, and some chips along the edges of the cleaning rod channel. The walnut buttstock with the crescent buttplate and sling swivel is in better shape, having only a few dents. Overall wood to metal fit is good. The length of pull is 13-¼”, the overall length is 51-½”, and the weight is 9.8 lbs. Our stock number is #A282. Willing to ship anywhere in the US, buyer pays freight and insurance.
