NICE 1840s ENGLISH Antique WM. WALLAS Pocket Pistol
HIDEOUT Carry Gun Made in Wigton/Carlisle, England
Here we present an antique William Wallas Percussion Folding Trigger Pistol, made circa 180s in Wigton or Carlisle, England. This pistol was designed for very close quarters self-defense, and was very much along the same lines as the Henry Deringer pistol in America.
This pistol features a folding trigger, which deploys as the trigger is cocked; a sliding safety behind the trigger; and a round turn-off barrel, making loading a larger ball easier than ramming one down the muzzle. This latter feature also negated the use of a ramrod and helped create a better gas seal, making the short barrel and single shot as efficient and effective as possible. The frame and barrel are neatly engraved, the left side showing the maker. The frame and barrel show Birmingham proof marks.
The overall condition is very good. The iron parts have a dark patina. The markings are clear and legible. The smooth bore is very good. The action is excellent.
