Sharps New Model 1863 Conversion Carbine 52 Caliber 17-29
 
 CONDITION: Sharps New Model 1863 Conversion Carbine 52 Caliber Metal is very clean with little or no corrosion, barrel and sight are a plum and brown patina.  The case hardening on receiver, breach block, lock, lever, trigger plate, has mostly silvered out, but no corrosion. Lock has maybe 30% case colors Wood has numerous dents, dings, hairline cracks etc..  Bore is shiny and has 90%+ of the rifling with a little corrosion. Works perfectly mechanically, over all a very good gun for collector or shooter. (17-29) $2,250.00
 
In 1867 the government had many of the percussion carbines it had on hand converted from percussion to cartridge at the Sharps Rifle Company Factory.  They were all converted and refinished at the factory to government specifications. Markings left side of receiver: Sharps Pat. 9/12/1848, on lock near center is faint: C. Sharps’ Pat. / Oct./5/1852 upper front section of lock R.S. Lawrence pat. April 12, 1859 metal markings are very good and readable on right side. Walnut stock with oil finish, Bore is relined with three groove rifling, standard 22” barrel {See Flayderman page 200-5F032}See Frank Sellers, Sharps Firearms p.175 for a detailed discussion of this model.
