Description:

A. Stelzig is listed as "Saddles, Harness & Hdwe" in the 1888-93 City Directories.  Then A. Stelzig (estate of) "Saddles, Harness & Hdwe " is listed in the 1894-1922 City Directories.  Anton Stelzig, born June 29, 1849 in Germany, moved to Houston about 1880, and died Aug 25, 1893.  The business was continued by his sons Anton, Jr., Charles, Joseph, & Henry.

This antique holster remains in superb condition!  Made of heavy leather in the best quality.  The surface is smooth with a light sheen, and shows no crazing or cracking.  Only one minor scuffed area exists where the barrel ended.  The application of some clear Minwax shoe shine polish to this small scuffed area should restore the color and sheen.  The leather is pliable, and all stitching is as tight as when new.  There have been no alterations or repairs.  The leather has not been treated with any preservatives.

The pouch, skirt, and two loops were basically made from one piece of heavy leather.  The pouch is deeply hand carved, and the skirt and loops also have attractive embossing.  The lower skirt is deeply stamped "Stelzig / Saddlery Co. / Houston, Texas".

Measurements are included with the pictures.  Apparently made for one of the Colt M1889-1903 DA Series models in 38 Colt or 41 Colt with a 6” barrel.  Shown in one picture is an overlay of the Colt M1889-1903 DA Series, as scaled to the 6” barrel.  Imprints from the revolver’s trigger guard, cylinder, front sight, and muzzle can be seen inside this holster.  [It was determined after this posting that a Colt Police Positive 38 Special with a 6” barrel is too small for this holster].

The Colt revolvers are not part of this sale, and are pictured for holster sizing purposes onlySee GunsInternational Item 100807948 for the blued Colt M1896 DA Factory Inscribed.

Terms:
No International sales.  Please ask questions prior to buying.  Additional pictures sent on request.  Due to potential damage caused by someone’s gun being crammed into this holster, there is NO three day inspection period, or Return.  I hate to be this way, but in 50 years of collecting, have seen dumb things done that have irreversibly damaged antique holsters.  This is an unusually nice holster, and it should stay that way.

I accept Bank Cashier’s Checks and Postal Money Orders.  No personal checks or Western Union MO’s.  Payment must be received within seven days after sale date, and sent by Priority Mail with Tracking Number provided by buyer.  Shipping by USPS Priority Mail (12” x 9” x 9” box) fully insured for $15.00 (and tracking number provided to buyer).  Usually shipping occurs within 3 days after payment received.

Three (3) day Inspection and Return Policy: None.
