Description:
SALE PENDING
Browning Superposed 12 gauge Gr. IV.  Circa 1951, the Grade IV is recognized by many collectors as the most attractive of the early Superposed engraving patterns and this one is a magnificent example engraved by the Master, Felix Funken.  Even the trigger guard, top lever and forearm latch pieces are profusely engraved.  The barrels are 30” vent rib, with an ivory mid bead and red Bradley front bead.  The chokes are marked Improved Modified and Full and measure-out to .025” & .037” confirming the original choke markings. The stock and forearm are of straight grained with walnut with a contrasting perpendicular graining showing from the way the stock was cut from the blank.  14 ¼” LOP over a newer Browning vented pad, 1 ½” DAC and 1 ¾” DAH with a ¼” cast off for a right hand shooter.  All finishes are original, 98% barrel blue, 98% coin finish and the wood has 95-97% finish with a few light handling marks.  Weighs 7 lbs. 5 oz.
