Description:
RARE - Pre War Beretta Side Lock! Compare the engraving - Coverage and Quality - to any later SO3. No comparison! These very early SO3 guns have much better engraving than the later guns. To get this kind of engraving in the 1950s and later, you would have been ordering an SO3EL. I've never tried to confirm this, but I suspect when this gun was built, there were no EL and EELL guns. So, the SO3 ran a range depending on how they were ordered.

1938 - Beretta S3 / SO3 - 12ga, 29" 2-3/4", IM / F (.035/.044) Solid Rib Barrels, Ejectors, Double Triggers, English Stock, LOP 14-1/8", Drop 1-3/8" to 2", Weight 7 lbs. 4 oz.

Excellent Condition. The stocks have probably been refinished. The barrels appear to be original finish.

This gun is marked with a 1935 patent date on the bottom of the receiver. The serial number says Pre War - and I believe the gun was made in 1938. The barrels proofs say 1949. Gun might have been held in the factory until after the war. Might have been reproofed or rebarreled after the war. Numbers all match.
