A LITTLE KNOWN AND ALMOST NEVER ENCOUNTERED S&W VARIATION! THIS IS THE MODEL 36-6 CHIEF SPECIAL 3" HEAVY BARREL TARGET MODEL! Here's what is said about this model in The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 4th Edition: "Model 36-6 Target Variation: Approximately 615 were manufactured with a 3-inch full lug barrel with adjustable sights and a blue glass bead finish... 1989" It is also described in the same book as: "1989 Target Version special production, 3" full lug, with ribbed barrel, ramp on ramp base, wide smooth trigger." All of them came from the factory with Hogue rubber grips as standard. This one is basically new without a box. An interesting and practical model of limited production numbers almost impossible to find now.
