(December 19, 1917 - August 14, 2011 Brigadier General Yates was a West Point graduate. He was a decorated veteran and served in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. For his service in Vietnam he received the following medals. ARMY DISTINGUISHED SERVICE MEDAL Awarded for actions during the Vietnam War The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Army Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General Elmer Parker Yates (ASN: 0-23686), United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility with U.S. Engineer District North Pacific, from September 1966 to November 1968. Action Date: September 1966 - November 1968 Service: Army Rank: Brigadier General Division: U.S. Engineer District North Pacific ARMY DISTINGUISHED SERVICE MEDAL (Citation Needed) - SYNOPSIS: Major General Elmer Parker Yates (ASN: 0-23686), United States Army, was awarded a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Army Distinguished Service Medal for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States with Headquarters, Military Assistance Command, Vietnam, in the Republic of Vietnam, from 1969 to 1970. There is a lot of information on Brigadier General E.P. Yates which can easily be found. This pistol was made in 1943. Numbers match on slide and frame. Magazine is correct for the pistol. Stocks are correct as well and in excellent condition. Bore is bright and shiny and rates a nine on a one to ten scale. Action works perfectly and is tight. As you have probably already noticed, the U.S. PROPERTY has been ground off. This is still a very collectible pistol and will make nice addition to any collection.
