It has a 9” barrel, rolling block style modestly engraved action, typical deeply fluted European style grip (most likely either French, Belgian, or Flemish), abalone shell side plates, and simple fixed sights. These pistols fired VERY low powered cartridges, sort of a 22CB or BBcap type round, and black powder pressures so they could be used after fancy dinners by drunken male party guests in the parlor when the cigars and hard liquor would soon prime blustering males into shooting contests. (Heck, no sense putting accurate sights on such guns when the shooters are staggering all about and simply waving the pistols around in wild abandon while popping off cartridges indecriminately!) Mechanically, it will need the trigger sear filed slightly, as it does not QUITE catch and hold on full-cock, but this should be an easy fix by most fellows with a modicum of mechanical abilities. And as noted, the bore resembles something between a freshly dug gopher tunnel and a rusty 100-year old down spout from a roof gutter …but at least you can see light through it. Certainly not a highly sought after collectors item, but then it’s not a wallet load of “Benjamins” either. About “Good”, as described. $135 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Antique: Yes |
