Antique Match Safe In the shape of a bundle tied with rope or perhaps a bale of cotton. This is a very old match safe. The top is hinged and is tight. The bottom has a knurled area were the match head would strike. It is nickel plated brass. Measures 2 3/4" tall and 1 1/2" wide. This match-safe will be a prize possession of yours. This vintage shinny nickel Match Safe, Dates to the Civil War Era. Nice Match Safe with Flip Top Design, Striker on Bottom. Both sides have an impressed design. Near perfect shape, rare for a safe of this age. There are no splits, no breaks, and no repairs. Lid opens to almost 90 degrees and closes with a secure click. Hinge is excellent. The collectors have been hard after these makes them tough to find.
