Kongsberg (Nazi Production) Norwegian (Colt) Dated 1941, Cal. 11.25 mm, Serial Number 252XX.
What an unusual history was uncovered while researching this 1941 dated gun. The Kongsberg Model 1914 started life in 1914 when a small quantity of them was purchased from Colt. Just after two small batches were delivered by Colt, they began production of them in the Kongsberg Arsenal. They continued production until shortly after 1945.
In 1940 the Germans over ran Norway and took over the factory. Norwegian Military records state that the total production during Nazi occupation was approximately 8268 guns. The production during the Nazi occupation is as follows: 1940, 95 guns, 1941, 4099 guns, 1942, 3154 guns, 1943 and 1944 no guns, and in 1945, 920 guns. Only the very last batch of 920 guns were stamped with a Waffenamt. Making any Kongsberg 1914 dated after the Nazi occupation quite rare indeed.
The bulk of the guns were issued to the Norwegian/Nazi home guard referred to as Quislings. Named after the leader of these Nazi sympathizers.
This particular gun, as we previously stated, is dated 1941, right in the middle of the Nazi occupation.
The condition of this gun is outstanding, retaining about 85-90% of the original Parkerizing. The loss is contained to slight muzzle and, sharp edge silvering and some general thinning from holster. There is also some very slight toning on the front grip strap. There are no pits, scratches or rust anywhere.
All numbered parts match, with the exception of a correct Kongsberg barrel. The checkered wooden grips do show very little evidence of use. There are no chips splits, dings or flattened points. The grip screws are unmarred. The guide rails, bolt face and feed ramp have little evidence of any use. The bore is slightly frosted with sharp crisp rifling.
The gun comes with 1 correct non matching Kongsberg 1914 magazine serial number 20512. And one Kongsberg holster with a Nazi Kregsmarine stamp of questionable origin.
This is one of the very scarcest Nazi occupation firearms. You show this rarity with great pride can complete that WWII collection with a beautiful gun for just.. $3695
