This is a Merwin Hulbert & Co., NY .22 caliber tip up revolver. Model #1, 3rd issue. Identical to the Smith & Wesson.
S & W sued MH & Co for patent infringement and won the case. As a result all Merwin stamped .22 caliber tip ups in production or storage had to have manufacturers name over stamped with a series of XXXX's.
This revolver is in very good condition. Action works fine as it should. Approximately 95% original nickel finish. Approximately 60% original varnish on Rosewood grips. Barrel and cylinder have matching "L7" stamped. Unsure where to locate numbers on the frame.
