SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1879 /84 TRAPDOOR .45-70 CAL. INFANTRY RIFLE. All original and complete serial numbered in the 289,6xx range. Transitional 1886 production with original model 1879 rear sight and the “1873” dated breechblock. Has the model 1884 serrated trigger. 100% as issued and with good “SWP/1886” Govt. inspectors cartouche. Nice metal with traces of blue mixed with original patina. Excellent markings with good “EAGLE/U.S./SPRINGFIELD” on the lock plate. Original stock finish. Has seen use but is in perfect working order and has a really nice, bright bore. Nice late Indian Wars example at a reasonable price.
