Description:
Please DISREGARD THE ABOVE TITLE INISED A PREVIOUS TEMPLATE AND CANNOT EDOT THAT !
this is a SPECIALTY GRADE. Long Range Specialty Grade LC Smith.

Here is a fine example of a Vintage American side by side from the glory days of American gunning.  Here is the L.C. Smith answer to Bert Becker and the Super FOX.  The Long Range WildFowl guns were bored and chambered special so the layman could make those sharp-angled, fast-passing 80+ yard shots on waterfowl.  Forget about the havoc this gun will wreak on the dove field this September!

This L.C. Smith is firmly in the upper percentile of guns on the market today.  It is not mint and not even really “High Condition,”  however, it is a spectacular example of its kind.  Less than 1 in 100 LC smiths of any gauge and grade that you can find for sale are in this quality of condition or originality today. That figure is extremely conservative.  This double is as HONEST as the day is long. It retains a conservative 50% original case coloring with very strong coverage on the top half of the receiver.  The breech face and water table are strongly coloerd and show little wear suggesting relatively light usage… let’s assume 3-4 days of bag limits on ducks or geese a year. Maybe half a box of shells annually. The wood is respectable with no significant dings cuts or scratches. WHAT clearly STANDS OUT is the magnificent wood to metal fit and lack of any hints of cracks or splits. I do not believe the sideplates or trigger guard have ever been removed from the wood.  The barrels are 30 in and the bores are pristine.  The gun retains a high percentage of what I believe is the original bluing and has a tarnished silver inlay in the top rib as per standard for the grade.  The exterior of the barrels have many superficial nicks and scratches, remember it’s tricky to carry a full brace of ducks and gun out of the cattails and across the fence.  The gun features double triggers and extractors… what a joy to avoid the hassle and liability of the Hunter one trigger and to have a gun that opens and closes much smoother than the stiff ejector guns do.

The gun weighs 7 lbs 14 oz and has a 14 1/8 lop over a period Redhead pad.  It drops 1 5/8 inches at the comb and 2 5/8 inches at the heel. The pistol grip cap is more ornate than a standard round Smith cap and was likely upgraded for a very discriminating shooter.  Chokes are Modified and Full because, lets face it not all birds pass at 80+ yards. It is marked LONG RANGE on the barrel lug and has the proper Oval “Chambers 3 Inches” stamp on the barrel flats.  The action closes with a deafening and powerful snap and is tight and solid with the top lever well to the right of center. It , of course, cocks and fires and needs no attention., just love. $3300 insured to your door
