Description:
Built in 1970 and marked "Made in West Germany", this Model 54 Sporter by Anschutz is one of the icons in precision rimfire shooting. It has the earlier configuration barrel with both the "donut ring" for the rear sight, and the barrel band type front sight. For some reason these earlier Model 54 Sporters just seem to shoot better by a small degree than the later versions. The condition of this rifle is excellent plus with no visible blue finish wear and only a few very minor handling marks on the European Walnut stock. The rear sight has been removed for using a scope mounted low to the barrel, and a blank has been inserted into the rear sight dovetail to protect it. The bore is mint on this rifle with no signs of wear or erosion/corrosion. Everything works 100% like it is supposed to. We buy all of these that we can find because in our experience they are one of the most accurate .22 rifles ever built, and we believe that they will continue to increase in both value and scarcity.
