Description:
This is a very high condition Colt 1st Model Match Target Woodsman that was shipped to the Navel Supply Depot in Norfolk, Virginia on September 14, 1943. This gun remains in new condition and does not look like it has ever been fired. It has the Ordnance Escutcheon (Crossed Cannons) on the left side and G.H.D. on the right side. The G.H.D. was for Col. Guy H. Drewry who was the Ordnance Inspector for the Springfield Ordnance District and many thousands of WWII era guns have his inspection stamp on them. This is one of the early Match Targets that were shipped as the later batch have the Ordnance Escutcheon replaced by a U.S. Property roll stamp applied at the factory. The gun is properly equipped with the military checkered plastic grips and the screw hole is correctly missing in the front of the frame where the commercial wood grips had a screw. This gun is correct in every aspect and you would look long and far to find one as good. This is by far the best one that we have ever encountered. The gun comes with a Kraft Box, hang tags, Woodsman factory brochure that is marked: W.M. Dunbar Co. G 1st Inf. VA. N.G. A Colt factory letter is also included. This gun is certainly a must buy for the serious Woodsman or Mitilary collector. I offer a three day non firing inspection period and always want the buyer to be satisfied with their purchase. The gun will be packed correctly with the gun in a zipper sleeve and shipped via FedEx Air with insurance to your FFL dealer in the continental United States for $55 (California is extra because I have to ship through my local dealer). This gun requires a C&R or FFL license for transfer. I ship the following day after the payment arrives and provide tracking information.
