Description:
***SOLD***  This George Schoyen Ballard Schuetzen Rifle, S/N 7656 was extricated from an attic still wrapped in a Chicago Tribune newspaper dated Dec 28, 1941.
Uncanny that it was put away only three weeks after the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Did the owner enlist? and never make it back? We'll never know.
This Ballard sports a 28" octagon barrel marked Geo C. Schoyen, Denver Colo on the top flat. The 28-30-120 bore is in excellent condition exhibiting no corrosion or pitting. The rifle with scope weigh in at 14 lbs.
The full length scope is by J. Stevens Arms,  Mod 161, with very clear optics.
It has double set triggers, uncheckered perch belly Schuetzen butt-stock, and Schnabel for-end.
There is a check on the stock at the wrist, and the for-end has two holes for a palm rest. The wood is in excellent condition.
The metal. is mostly silvered/ gray patina with traces of color case hardening. Bluing on the scope appears original and is in very good condition, just showing wear from being adjusted.
I checked several times about there being accessories for this rifle but no luck.
Unfortunately the newspaper was misplaced and is gone; fortunately I had the presence of mind to take a photo of the rifle laying on the Chicago Tribune.

This is an antique so no license is required.
