Description:
Winchester Model 12 "Engraved" 20 Gauge. Originally manufactured in 1940 (S# 831619) this restored model 12 has a new deep, dark, blue/black, luster metal finish (similar to Winchester factory finish of that time period), and new forend and butt-stock wood with a Monte Carlo comb, similar to trap models, and nicely cut checkering and a Pachmayr White Line recoil pad, and the wood finish has a light sheen look. The shotgun was recently engraved also, inspired by Winchester's engraving patterns (see the book, The Winchester Model Twelve by George Madis, page 118 & 119. The 28" barrel has an early first style "donut" base posts, and is stamped "Full" choke, though it measures to a heavy modified (.019 constriction). The rib was installed by Winchester as their proof marks are to the left of the rib and the receiver. The rib and receiver extension has a nice matted finish and sports a brass intermediate bead and red front bead sights. The shotgun is in as new condition, weighs 6 Lbs. 14 Oz. and stock measurements of, 14 1/2" LOP, and the Monte Carlo comb, 1 3/8" DAC & 1 1/2" DAH, which is very high for field use. The stock at the recoil pad has a 2 1/8" DAH, which would be much closer for field use, if one was inclined to have the Monte Carlo comb removed from the stock. This is an exceptional restoration, well executed stock and metal work, all done by a true professional (unfortunately we do not know who he/she was). This beautifully restored model 12 would make a great addition to any Winchester collection!
