Description:
Cal 45. 24" half round half octagon bbl, dovetail front sight, folding ladder rear sight and carbine buttplate. Bbl is mostly a plum/brown color and has the "Old Reliable" marking on the round portion. Frame has good traces of case color and "A" inside an octagon on the left side. The Factory Letter explains that this rifle was listed in the final order book as an "A" rifle. It goes on to say that it was one of 700 that were made up of salvaged Model 1874 receivers and a variety of other parts. These "A" rifles were sold exclusively to the Western trade and saw some pretty rough times. This one is in very nice shape with a good bore and nice action. Lots of Frontier Character!
