Description:
A very nice, all original, 1893 vintage Colt Frontier Six Shooter Single Action. The gun is fitted with a 7 1/2 inch barrel, checkered hard rubber "Rampant Colt" grips, built on the standard (at the time) black-powder frame, is blue/color case-hardened finished, and chambered in 44/40 (.44 W.C.F.). This is a 50-60% gun with the barrel retaining 80% of its original blue finish, the ejector rod housing about 60%, the trigger guard 60%, the back-strap about 50%, and the cylinder about 30% of its original blue finish. The frame retains traces of its original color case-hardened finsh, mostly in the hidden areas ahead of the cylinder and under the loading gate. The hammer retains 80% of its original color case-hardened finish. The bore is bright, with sharp rifling, and the action functions like new. It is all numbers matching, including the grips. The screw heads are mostly un-molested, some even retaining their original fire blue finish. The grips are in excellent condition, having turned an even brown color, and have no chips or cracks. All stampings are clear, especially the "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" stamp on the left side of the barrel. An excellent example of its type. Included is a Colt factory letter stating that it was shipped to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. of Chicago, IL on April 23, 1894..
