Description:
This Winchester Model 12 was manufactured in 1941 with a 28 inch solid rib barrel that was choked "full". It is 2 3/4 inch chambered with a bright clean bore. This Model 12 retains over 90% of it's original high polish factory blue finish on the metal parts and looks fantastic. The barrel's exterior blue finish looks great except for the last inch at the muzzle. It appears that it might have been stored in a corner barrel-down on a carpeted floor and exposed to moisture and thus, it developed some light rust which has lightly pitted the area and removed the blue finish. The original American Walnut stock set looks great retaining it's original finish, has not been cut, and still has the original black plastic Winchester butt plate. There are no cracks or repairs visible, just a faint line around the butt where it wore a slip-on pad for a time. This Model 12 doesn't appear to have been shot much at all. The action is still super tight and smooth and everything works 100% like it should. Taking the gun down and putting it back together is a breeze, and when you lock the barrel in place it is rock solid. Sixteen gauge Model 12s with solid rib barrels and 2 3/4 inch chambers are not easy to find, and this example is really in the upper end of condition of what's out there. It would make someone a great field gun, or a valuable addition to any shotgun collection.
