Description:
A nice example of the big 44/40 top break, this large, 6 1/2 inch barrel S&W was made around 1890 and still functions well in either single action or double action. The original nickel finish has aged and the once black gutta percha grips have turned a milk chocolate brown. The bore shows wear but the rifling is still decent. These .44 W.C.F. Frontiers were numbered in their own serial range, and only 15,340 were produced. This gun is # 54xx. It was found in an old house in Louisville, Kentucky and is untouched and absolutely original in every respect.
