Description:
For your viewing pleasure and purchase consideration, Cabela's is proud to offer this fabulous Keith Stegall Custom Rifle. The rifle is built on a commercial FN "Fabrique National" Mauser action and barreled to .25-270 wildcat caliber. Keith Stegall was a custom rifle builder of the last century, his name is synonymous with other American custom rifle-makers, names like Al Biesen, Jerry Fisher, Dale Goens and a few others are the most recognizable names of American custom big game rifles for the American and African game lands. The rifle has a medium sporter barrel measuring 24". The Mauser receiver, floor-plate, trigger-guard and screws, barrel and scope rings are beautifully adorned with scroll engraving. The center of the floor-plate has an engraved American game scene depicting a pronghorn antelope on the western prairie with mountain peaks in the background. The gold inlay pronghorn antelope is the center-piece of the game scene, it is an action scene showing the antelope running pell-mell! There are other nice features to this custom rifle, featuring a checkered panel at the top of the bolt knob, and eye popping jeweling (machine turning) on the bolt body, the extractor, on the backend of the firing pin, the action raceways, as well as the magazine follower. The rifle is beautifully stocked with extra fancy grade walnut with a combination raised bevel and soft shadow-line cheekpiece and finely executed 24 lines per inch checkering on the pistol grip and forend. The stock has extra features, including checkered metal grip cap, checkered metal butt-plate (with tool compartment) and sling swivel studs. The action also features a Mauser type bolt release and right-hand side mounted safety, and the FN Mauser trigger is set at a crisp 2 1/4 pound pull. The rifle carries a Redfield 2x7 power scope (with Accu-Range reticle) mounted in Redfield bases and rings. The rifle is signed "K. Stegall" on the left side of the barrel just above the .25x270 caliber stamp which is just ahead of the front receiver ring. The rifle and scope weighs 8 3/4 pounds. There are a total of 11 photographs which all can be seen on Cabela's Gun Library .
